The Abelia Saxophone Quartet are an award-winning chamber group based at The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester.

As commissioning artists they have performed live on BBC Radio 3 contributing to the BBC Young Artists Day and were a contributing ensemble to ‘New Music North West’ 2016.

As well as giving regular recitals the quartet has enjoyed much competition success. The quartet won the Trevor Wye Memorial Prize, the June Emerson Launchpad Prize and were named the Christopher Rowland RNCM Chamber Ensemble of the Year all in the same year. Following this the ensemble were then invited to perform for Timothy McAllister at the World Saxophone Congress 2015 in Strasbourg. They made their London debut at St Martin-in-the-Fields and have done many collaboration projects including a recital project to bring art and music together at The Lowry (Salford Quays).

Performing highly acclaimed arrangements they have begun to expand the group to an 8-piece saxophone orchestra ensemble. This group is now touring giving a new twist on orchestral classics including ‘Short Ride In A Fast Machine’.
