hannah corcoran picHannah has just completed her second year of study at the Royal Northern College of Music and is the current alto saxophone player and leader of Abelia.

Recently she competed for, and was thrilled to have been awarded, the title of Coro Nuovo’s Young Musician of The Year 2016, and is looking forward to collaborating with Coro Nuovo in the forthcoming year. Hannah is also extremely excited to play alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra in the BBC Last Night of the Proms 2016 in the Royal Albert Hall this summer.

In 2015 she was appointed the position of first-call saxophone at the Young Musician’s Symphony Orchestra, and also placed joint first in the Springboard Festival’s under 19’s Concerto competition in her hometown of Brighton. Hannah also enjoys playing in orchestras such as the Piccadilly Symphony Orchestra and the Sussex Symphony Orchestra.

In the past, Hannah had previously attended the junior department of Trinity Laban College of Music and Dance, and has been a member of the National Children’s Wind Orchestra, the East Sussex Youth Orchestra, and the Brighton Youth Orchestra. She was an orchestral member of  opera ‘Imago’ at Glyndebourne Opera House, and has also performed in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall and the Bridgewater Hall. Alongside this, Hannah has enjoyed performing at events including the Montreux Jazz Festival, the Brighton Fringe Festival, and Kendal Calling Festival. Hannah has also enjoyed working with a variety of artists including Snarky Puppy, Matthew Ford and Jason Manford.

Hannah is thrilled to be a RPS Young Musician and is humbled to have been given huge support from The Pebble Trust, Coro Nuovo, and The Sussex Community Foundation, along with The Sir John Barbirolli Memorial Foundation, supported by ABRSM.
